José Miguel Alemán
José Miguel Alemán Healy (born 8 May 1956, in Panama City) is a Panamanian politician. He spent a significant part of his childhood living in Washington, DC while his father, Roberto Alemán Zubieta, was serving as one of the leading negotiators for the Robles-Johnson Treaties and later on as Ambassador of Panama to the United States (1968–69). His Brother is Jaime Alemán Healy, a Panamanian lawyer and Ambassador of Panama to the United States. José Miguel first entered the Panamanian political scene in the 1994 elections, when he ran for a position in the National Assembly representing the Arnulfista Party, of which he was a founding member. Panama City ( es, Ciudad de Panamá, links=no; ), also known as Panama (or Panamá in Spanish), is the capital and largest city of Panama. It has an urban population of 880,691, with over 1.5 million in its metropolitan area. The city is located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, in the province of Panama. The city is the political and administrative center of the country, as well as a hub for banking and commerce. The city of Panama was founded on 15 August 1519, by Spanish conquistador Pedro Arias Dávila. The city was the starting point for expeditions that conquered the Inca Empire in Peru. It was a stopover point on one of the most important trade routes in the American continent, leading to the fairs of Nombre de Dios and Portobelo, through which passed most of the gold and silver that Spain mined from the Americas. Consejo Nacional De Relaciones Exteriores
The Panamanian National Council on Foreign Relations "Consejo Nacional de Relaciones Exteriores" or CONAREX is a consultation body of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The council was created under the Law 28 of 1999 under the government of Ricardo Martinelli of Panama. The members serve pro bono and are appointed by the Executive and convenes tri-annually, or "when is convened extraordinarily". The first council was installed November 19, 2009, when Vice President Juan Carlos Varela, served as foreign minister.
