José María Vigil (theologian)
José María Vigil (Zaragoza, Spain 22 August 1946) is a Latin American theologian who has played a significant role in the fields of liberation theology and spirituality, the theology of religious pluralism and the emergence of new paradigms. He has been a Claretian missionary since 1964 and a Catholic priest since 1971. He is a naturalised Nicaraguan and currently lives in Panama. He is known for his numerous writings, his editorial and online activity, his service to the Association of Theologians of the Third World (EATWOT), the coordination of Koinonia Services and the International Latin American Agenda, his theology of religious pluralism and, in recent years, his contributions to a ”new paradigms” theological perspective. Leonardo Boff
Leonardo Boff (, born 14 December 1938), born as Genézio Darci Boff (), is a Brazilian theologian, philosopher writer, and former Catholic priest known for his active support for Latin American liberation theology. He currently serves as Professor Emeritus of Ethics, Philosophy of Religion, and Ecology at the Rio de Janeiro State University. In 2001, he received the Right Livelihood Award for "his inspiring insights and practical work to help people realise the links between human spirituality, social justice and environmental stewardship." Jon Sobrino
Jon Sobrino (born 1938) is a Jesuit Catholic priest and theologian, known mostly for his contributions to Latin American liberation theology. He received worldwide attention in 2007 when the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a notification for what they termed doctrines that are "erroneous or dangerous and may cause harm to the faithful." Life Born 27 December 1938 into a Basque family in Barcelona, Sobrino entered the Society of Jesus when he was 18. The following year, in 1958, he was sent to El Salvador. Jorge Pixley
George V. Pixley (Chicago, 1937 - 2023) was an American Christian theologian. Biography He completed his undergraduate studies in Wheaton College (Illinois) and in Kalamazoo College, where he met and married Janyce Babcock. In the Faculty of Theology of the University of Chicago obtained the PhD in Biblical Studies. In 1963, Pixley was ordained as a Baptist pastor, and he was appointed professor of Bible at the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico. In 1969–1970 he was invited to teach lectures at the Evangelical Higher Institute of Theological Studies ISEDET, in Buenos Aires, where he worked too, as a professor at the Lutheran Theological Faculty. Albert Nolan (2 September 1934 – 17 October 2022) was a South African Catholic priest, theologian writer and member of the Dominican Order. He is well known for his book, ''Jesus Before Christianity'', first published in 1972, in which he presented an account of Jesus' radical involvement in the struggle for full humanity in the context of first-century Judea.
