José Manuel Martínez (athlete)
José Manuel ("Chema") Martínez Fernández (born 22 October 1971 in Madrid) is a Spanish long-distance runner. He is married to Spanish field hockey player Nuria Moreno. Martínez's first major win came at the 1999 Summer Universiade, where he became the champion in the 10,000 metres. He competed at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, finishing 13th in the final, but was more successful at the European Athletics Championships, in which he won the 2002 gold medal in the 10,000 m, and returned to take the silver medal at the following edition in 2006. He won the San Silvestre Vallecana 10K race in Madrid in 2003. Martínez has represented Spain at the Olympics on two occasions: in 2004, finishing ninth in the 10,000 m, and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, at which he was 16th in the Olympic marathon race. José Manuel Martínez (born 1962), dubbed El Mano Negra ("The Black Hand") is a Mexican-American former self-described drug cartel hitman. Martínez confessed to an estimated 36 murders and was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of murder in multiple states. Crimes Martínez was arrested in May 2013 for the murder of Jose Ruiz, a friend of his daughter's boyfriend. During his interrogation by Alabama authorities, Martínez confessed to killing 36 people across at least 12 states. All of his victims were adult men, with the exception of one attempted victim that was a 17-year-old boy. Martínez said that most of his murders were related to debts to Mexican drug cartels. He may have killed more than 30 people in over 32 years. José Manuel "Manel" Martínez Bel (born 25 March 1992) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward. Club career Born in Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona, Catalonia, Manel finished his formation with UE Cornellà. He made his senior debut for the club in 2011, and subsequently moved to CD Masnou. In 2012, after a short period at CE Europa, Manel moved abroad for the first time in his career, joining Virginia Commonwealth University's team VCU Rams while studying. On 17 June 2013, he signed for National Premier Soccer League club RVA FC, being crowned champions with the side.
