José Jiménez Lozano
José Jiménez Lozano (13 May 1930 – 9 March 2020) was a Spanish writer. In 2002 he was awarded the Miguel de Cervantes Prize. Biography Jiménez Lozano was born in Langa, a village in the province of Ávila. After finishing his studies in 1962, he became a journalist and writer, winning the Cervantes Prize in 2002. Not well known to the general public, he emphasized religious and social themes in both his journalism and his novels. The Miguel de Cervantes Prize () is awarded annually to honour the lifetime achievement of an outstanding writer in the Spanish language. The ''Encyclopædia Britannica'' calls it "most prestigious and remunerative award given for Spanish-language literature". History The prize was established in 1975 by the Ministry of Culture of Spain and first awarded the following year. Langa, Ávila
Langa is a township and municipality in the province of Ávila (autonomous community Castile and León). There are 527 inhabitants (2011). History Premises belonging to the area called The Moraña is repopulated from 1085, with people coming from the North Peninsula. In the village of Narros settled down and took possession of the land surrounding the Cardenas family. Langa was one of four places in this area and those who had just left him.
