José Herrera (Uruguayan Footballer)
José Oscar Herrera Corominas (born 17 June 1965 in Tala, Uruguay, Tala) is a Uruguayan former international Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender for various clubs. Club career Herrera started his playing career with C.A. Peñarol, Peñarol where he was part of two championship winning squads in (1985 & 1986) and a winner of the Copa Libertadores in 1987. In 1989, he joined UE Figueres, Figueres of Spain, and in 1990 he joined Cagliari Calcio, Cagliari in Italy where he played over 100 games for the club. In 1995, he joined Atalanta B.C., Atalanta and in 1996 he moved to Mexico to play for Cruz Azul. In 1997, he played for Newell's Old Boys of Argentina. Herrera returned to Uruguay later in his career where he played for Peñarol, Racing Club de Montevideo and Montevideo Wanderers. Tala, Uruguay
Tala is a town in the north of the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. Tala is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs. Location The city is located on the intersection of Route 7 (Uruguay), Route 7 with Route 12 (Uruguay), Route 12, about north of San Jacinto, Uruguay, San Jacinto, east of San Ramón, Uruguay, San Ramón and south of Fray Marcos of the Florida Department. History Tala was founded as a "Pueblo" (village) by Decree of 2 May 1860. On 15 May 1925, its status was elevated to "Villa" (town) by the Act of Ley Nº 7.837. Copa Libertadores
The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as the Copa Libertadores de América ( pt, Copa Libertadores da América), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football. The tournament is named after the ''Libertadores'' (Spanish and Portuguese for ''liberators''), the leaders of the Latin American wars of independence, so a literal translation of its former name into English is "''America's Liberators Cup''". Diego Roberto Godín Leal (born 16 February 1986) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Argentine Primera División club Vélez Sarsfield and captains the Uruguay national team. Regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation, he started his professional career with Cerro and three years later was transferred to Primera División side Nacional. He since spent most of his professional career in Spain, representing Villarreal and Atlético Madrid and winning eight titles with the latter club, including the La Liga title in the 2013–14 season.
