José Guillermo Cortines
José Guillermo Cortines (born December 5, 1973) is a Dominican actor and singer who is involved in films, telenovelas, musical theatre and television. He lives in Dominican Republic and is best known for his role as Mauricio Montiel in Telemundo's "El Rostro de Analía" and for his role as Osvaldo Guerra in Más Sabe el Diablo. He was also the host of the Miss Dominican Republic 2002 and Miss Dominican Republic 2004 beauty pageants. He played a role in the movie La Fiesta del Chivo. Biography Jose Guillermo studied in Santo Domingo at Colegio San Judas Tadeo, and at "Centro de Enseñanza El Buen Pastor". He graduated from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) in 1996 having specialized in Graphic Design and Publicity. ''The Feast of the Goat'' ( es, La Fiesta del Chivo, 2000) is a novel by the Peruvian Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Mario Vargas Llosa. The book is set in the Dominican Republic and portrays the assassination of Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo, and its aftermath, from two distinct standpoints a generation apart: during and immediately after the assassination itself, in May 1961; and thirty-five years later, in 1996. Throughout, there is also extensive reflection on the heyday of the dictatorship, in the 1950s, and its significance for the island and its inhabitants. The novel follows three interwoven storylines. The first concerns a woman, Urania Cabral, who is back in the Dominican Republic, after a long absence, to visit her ailing father.
