José Fonseca E Costa
José Fonseca e Costa, GCIH (27 June 1933 – 1 November 2015) was a Portuguese film director. He was one of the founders of the Portuguese Cinema Novo. Caála
Caála is a town and a municipality located 23 km west of the city of Huambo, in the namesake province in Angola. It was known as Vila Robert Williams while Angola was a Portuguese colony, after the famous railroad developer and mining magnate, Sir Robert Williams. The town has a population of 130,000 and the municipality a population of 279,792 according to the 2014 census. History Vila Robert Williams was the former name of Caála, in the then Portuguese Angola (before 1975). The town of Robert Williams was just west of Nova Lisboa (now Huambo) and was remarkable for huge outcroppings of boulders that jutted from the fields just outside the town. In those outcroppings researchers could find pottery shards, primitive metal smelting pits, and other archeological detritus. Sports Caála is home to the local popular soccer club Clube Recreativo da Caála who plays in Angola's top league, the Girabola. The Cinema of Portugal started with the birth of the medium in the late 19th century. Cinema was introduced in Portugal in 1896 with the screening of foreign films and the first Portuguese film was '' Saída do Pessoal Operário da Fábrica Confiança'', made in the same year. The first movie theater opened in 1904 and the first scripted Portuguese film was ''O Rapto de Uma Actriz'' (1907). The first all-talking sound film, '' A Severa'', was made in 1931. Portuguese Angola refers to Angola during the historic period when it was a territory under Portuguese rule in southwestern Africa.
