José Eusebio Caro
José Eusebio Caro (March 5, 1817 – January 28, 1853) was a Colombian writer, journalist, and politician. He was born in Ocaña, Norte de Santander and studied law at the Colegio de San Bartolomé in Bogota. Married to Blasina Tobar Finch in 1843, he was the father of future Colombian president Miguel Antonio Caro as well as future first lady Margarita Caro Tobar, the wife of another president Carlos Holguin Mallarino. Career He was a co-founder of the Colombian Conservative Party. As a writer, his most notable works were only published after his death. Among these are his letters, philosophical writings and poetry. Ocaña, Norte De Santander
Ocaña is a town and municipality in the Colombian Departments of Colombia, Department of Norte de Santander. Ocaña is the second largest populated center of this department. It played an important role during the Military career of Simón Bolívar, Independence of Colombia from the Spanish monarchy. History The city was founded on 14 December of 1570 by Captain Francisco Fernández de Contreras, as part of the third populating project of the east, patronised by the Audiencia y Cabildo de Pamplona. Contreras chose the Hacaritama Indigenous Society in order to have more control over the indigenous population of the area and thus be able to found the city. The first name the city received was Santa Ana de Hacarí when it was founded in 1570. During 1575, it was assigned the status of city with its current name, Ocaña. Margarita Caro Tobar
A margarita is a cocktail consisting of Tequila, triple sec, and lime juice often served with salt on the rim of the glass. The drink is served shaken with ice (on the rocks), blended with ice (frozen margarita), or without ice (straight up). The drink is generally served in a stepped-diameter variant of a cocktail glass or champagne coupe called a margarita glass. Origin The history of the margarita is one of folklore due to its numerous origin stories. According to cocktail historian David Wondrich, the margarita is related to the brandy daisy (''margarita'' is Spanish for "daisy"), remade with tequila instead of brandy. (Daisies are a family of cocktails that include a base spirit, liqueur, and citrus. A sidecar and gin daisy are other related drinks.) Colombian Conservative Party
The Colombian Conservative Party ( es, Partido Conservador Colombiano) is a conservative political party in Colombia. The party was formally established in 1849 by Mariano Ospina Rodríguez and José Eusebio Caro. The Conservative party along with the Colombian Liberal Party dominated the Colombian political scene from the end of the 19th century until 2002, in bipartisan political hegemony. In the mid-20th century, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party established the "National Front" after deposing President Gustavo Rojas Pinilla; the presidency alternated between the two parties for the next 16 years.
