José Endundo Bononge
José Endundo Bononge (born 8 August 1943) is a politician born in Équateur province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He is the chairman of the Christian Democratic Party (''Parti Démocrate Chrétien'' – PDC) and was elected MP for the constituency of Mbandaka. Biography Endundo was born on 8 August 1943 in Tondo in Bikoro Territory in Équateur province. He is a pharmacist by training. He held various positions in government departments in the DRC, including the Congolese Control Office (formerly OZAC) and the Office of Roads. He also served as The President of the Franco-Zaïroise Chamber of Commerce. Endundo joined the Rally for Congolese Democracy (RCD) for a brief time before joining the Movement for the Liberation of the Congo (MLC) of Jean-Pierre Bemba in which he became one of the most influential players. Équateur (former Province)
Équateur ( French for "Equator") was a province in the northwest of the Belgian Congo and the successor Republic of the Congo, now known as Democratic Republic of the Congo. It had its origins in the Équateur District of the Congo Free State, the private property of King Leopold II of Belgium. It was upgraded to the status of a province in 1917. Between 1933 and 1947 it was named Coquilhatville. In 1962 it was divided into three smaller provinces, but there were recombined in 1966. Équateur was one of the eleven provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo until 2015, when it was split into the new, smaller Équateur province, as well as the Tshuapa, Mongala, Nord-Ubangi and Sud-Ubangi provinces. Moïse Katumbi Chapwe (; born 28 December 1964) is a Congolese businessman and politician. He was Governor of Katanga Province, located in the southern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, from 2007 to September 2015. He was a member of the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) until September 2015. 2018 Democratic Republic Of The Congo General Election
General elections were held in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on 30 December 2018, to determine a successor to President Joseph Kabila, as well as for the 500 seats of the National Assembly and the 715 elected seats of the 26 provincial assemblies. Félix Tshisekedi ( UDPS) won with 38.6% of the vote, defeating another opposition candidate, Martin Fayulu, and Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, backed by the ruling party PPRD. Fayulu alleged that the vote was rigged against him in a deal made by Tshisekedi and outgoing President Kabila, challenging the result in the DRC's Constitutional Court. Different election observers, including those from the country's Roman Catholic Church, also cast doubt on the official result. Léon Engulu, or Engulu Baangampongo Bakokele Lokanga (1 April 1934 – 4 February 2023) was a politician from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was prominent in the politics of Équateur Province in the period leading up to and following independence in 1960, and was governor of various provinces between 1962 and 1970. From 1970 to 1997 he occupied various senior positions in the governments of president Mobutu Sese Seko. From 2003 to 2018 he was a senator.
