José Carvalho
José Carvalho (born June 11, 1964 in Salvador, Brazil) is a Brazilian screenwriter, script doctor and dramaturgy professor. He has written scripts for the big and small screens since the early 90s. Some of his most well-known works include Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum (film), Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum, Bruna Surfistinha (film), Bruna Surfistinha, Faroeste Caboclo (film), Faroeste Caboclo and the classic soap opera Xica da Silva. With an MA in Literature from PUC-Rio, Carvalho has taught courses at not only his alma-mater, but also renowned Brazilian production houses such as ''O2 Filmes'' (co-owned by Brazilian film director Fernando Meirelles) and Grupo Globo, Globo. Carvalho is set to open his own screen/television writing school, Roteiraria, alongside partner Edu Ribeiro in April 2016. Caio Blat de Oliveira (born 2 June 1980) is a Brazilian actor. Biography Blat was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He studied law at the University of São Paulo, the largest and one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil, but dropped out because of his acting career. Caio is cousin of the playwright Rogério Blat and of the also actor Ricardo Blat. The surname Blat is of Catalan origin and means 'wheat'. João Guimarães Rosa
João Guimarães Rosa (; 27 June 1908 – 19 November 1967) was a Brazilian novelist, short story writer and diplomat. Rosa only wrote one novel, '' Grande Sertão: Veredas'' (known in English as ''The Devil to Pay in the Backlands''), a revolutionary text for its blend of archaic and colloquial prose and frequent use of neologisms, taking inspiration from the spoken language of the Brazilian backlands. For its profoundly philosophical themes, the Literary criticism, critic Antonio Candido described the book as a "metaphysical novel". It is often considered to be the Brazilian equivalent of James Joyce's ''Ulysses''. In a 2002 poll by the Bokklubben World Library, "Grande Sertão: Veredas" was named among the best 100 books of all time.
