José Carlos Pinto
José Carlos Pinto Samayoa (born 16 June 1993) is a Guatemalan professional footballer who plays as a defender for Liga Nacional club Comunicaciones and the Guatemala national team. Career Pinto began his senior career with Malacateco, before moving to Municipal in 2013. In 2015, he transferred to Antigua where he made over 200 appearances for the club, and help them win 4 Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala in 5 years. On 8 June 2020, he transferred to Comunicaciones. On 9 January 2022 of Paraguay's summer transfer window, Pinto officially completed a transfer to Tacuary Asunción. On 1 July 2022, he rejoined Comunicaciones on a free transfer. International career Pinto made his international debut for the Guatemala national team in a friendly 7–1 loss to Armenia on 28 May 2016. 2017–18 Guatemalan Liga Nacional
The 2017–18 Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala season is the 20th season in which the Apertura and Clausura season is used. The season began on 28 July 2017 and will ended in May 2018. Format The format for both championships are identical. Each championship will have two stages: a first stage and a playoff stage. The first stage of each championship is a double round-robin format. The teams that finish first and second in the standings will advance to the playoffs semifinals, while the teams that finish 3–6 will enter in the quarterfinals. The winner of each quarterfinal will advance to the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals will advance to the finals, which will determine the tournament champion. 2021 CONCACAF League
The 2021 CONCACAF League (officially the 2021 Scotiabank CONCACAF League for sponsorship purposes) was the 5th edition of the CONCACAF League, a football club competition organized by CONCACAF, the regional governing body of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Comunicaciones defeated Motagua in the final to win their first CONCACAF League title. As winners, they and the next best five teams qualifed for the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League. CONCACAF League
The CONCACAF League was an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF as its second-tier continental competition. It was announced on 8 May 2017. The competition uses a knockout cup format with each round having two legs. The top six teams proceed to the CONCACAF Champions League. From 2019 to 2022, the tournament featured 22 teams, an increase from 16 in the 2017 and 2018 editions. The competition ended after the 2022 edition due to the expansion of the CONCACAF Champions League, starting with the 2024 edition. Two regional cup competitions – the Central American Cup and the Caribbean Cup – were created as qualifying competitions of the CONCACAF Champions League.
