Edgar Josué Martínez Huerta (born 28 March 2002) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays for York United FC in the Canadian Premier League, on loan from Monterrey. Early life Martínez joined the youth sides of Monterrey at U13 level. Club career Martínez began his senior career playing with Raya2 Expansión, the second team of Monterrey, in the second tier Liga de Expansión MX. In February 2024, he was loaned to York United FC in the Canadian Premier League for the 2024 season. On 1 May 2024, he scored his first goal for York United in a 2024 Canadian Championship match against Forge FC. Saltillo
Saltillo () is the capital and largest city of the northeastern Mexican state of Coahuila and is also the municipal seat of the municipality of the same name. The 2021–22 Liga de Expansión MX season is the second professional season of the second-tier football division in Mexico. The season is divided into two championships—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each in an identical format and each contested by the same seventeen teams. 2024 York United FC Season
The 2024 York United FC season is the sixth season in the history of York United FC. In addition to the Canadian Premier League, the club competed in the Canadian Championship. After a 2023 season in which it was operated by Canadian Soccer Business, York United was sold to a new Mexican ownership group, Game Plan Sports, in late November 2023. York United will play the 2024 season at York Lions Stadium, while the new owners will be looking into alternative permanent venues for the future.
