Bassett is a census-designated place (CDP) in Henry County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,100 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Martinsville Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded along a rail line by the same family that later started Bassett Furniture. Bassett Furniture's headquarters have remained in Bassett since it began in 1902. History The John D. Bassett High School, Eltham Manor, and R.L. Stone House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town of Bassett was named for John D. Bassett and his family. The UNOH 175 was a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire from 1996 to 2017. Since 2013 it was held the day before the Sprint Cup Series Sylvania 300, the second event in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The race was 200 laps in length from 1996 until 2010, when the distance was shortened to 175 laps. After a two-year absence from the 2012 and 2013 Truck Series schedules, it returned to the series schedule in 2014.
