Josh Barry
Josh Barry (born June 20, 1992 in Fredericton, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler. Career Juniors Barry is a four-time New Brunswick junior champion, winning provincial championships between 2010 and 2013. At the 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, he skipped his New Brunswick team of Chris Sleep, Blake Hunter and Alex Kyle to a 5–7 record. At the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Barry threw fourth stones on a team skipped by Jon Rennie. That team went 8–4 in round robin play, and lost in a tiebreaker against Newfoundland and Labrador. At the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Barry was back to skipping. He led his team of Kerry MacLean, Chris MacRae and Andrew O'Dell to a 5–7 record. At the 2013 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, he led his team of Rene Comeau, Spencer Watts and O'Dell to a 6–4 record, just missing the playoffs. Grand Slam (curling)
The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels. The Grand Slam season consists of six men's and women's events. The original four events (Masters, Open, National, and Players' Championship) are considered to be "majors". 2015 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2015 Tim Hortons Brier was held from February 28 to March 8 at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In the final, the team of Pat Simmons, John Morris, Carter Rycroft and Nolan Thiessen, representing "Team Canada" as defending Brier champions defeated the reigning Olympic gold medallist Brad Jacobs rink, representing Northern Ontario. Simmons had to make a draw to the button in an extra end to win the championship. With the victory, the Simmons rink went on to represent Canada at the 2015 Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Halifax, where they won the bronze medal.
