Joseph T. McCullen Jr. (born March 15, 1935) is an American venture capitalist who served as United States Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) from 1973 to 1977. Biography Joseph T. McCullen Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was educated at Villanova University. McCullen spent several years in the United States armed forces, as Infantry Lieutenant and Navy Petty Officer. In 1971, McCullen joined the Executive Office of the President of the United States as a Special Assistant to the President. In 1973, President of the United States Richard Nixon nominated McCullen as Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs), and McCullen subsequently held this office from September 1973 until April 1977. Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN) is the title given to certain civilian senior officials in the United States Department of the Navy. Edward Hidalgo (born Eduardo Hidalgo; October 12, 1912 – January 21, 1995) served as the United States Secretary of the Navy in the Carter administration from October 24, 1979 to January 20, 1981. He had previously served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) from April 1977 to October 1979. Early life Hidalgo was born Eduardo Hidalgo in Mexico City on October 12, 1912, to Egon and Domita Kunhardt Hidalgo. At the age of six his family moved to New York, where he became a citizen and anglicised his name. He graduated from Holy Cross College in 1933, and received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1936. During World War II he was a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Robert Alan "Bob" Brooks (May 10, 1932 – August 1, 2000) was an American telecommunications entrepreneur in St. Louis, Missouri who founded several companies and was listed by ''Red Herring'' magazine as one of the Top Ten Entrepreneurs of 1999. His two best-known companies were Cencom Cable Associates and Brooks Fiber Properties.
