Joseph Wade Scott (December 2, 1924 – March 6, 1979) was an American R&B trumpeter, bandleader, songwriter, arranger, record producer and A&R man, best known for his work at Duke and Peacock Records in the 1950s and 1960s, notably with Bobby "Blue" Bland. Biography Born in Texarkana, Texas, United States, he settled in Houston, Texas, by about 1950, becoming established as the principal bandleader, A&R man and arranger at Don Robey's Duke and Peacock Records. He wrote and arranged songs for Johnny Ace, Big Mama Thornton, Bobby Bland, and Junior Parker, as well as leading their touring bands. Sir Joseph Scott, 1st Baronet (1752–1828) was an English landowner and politician. He was the son of William Scott (d. 1753) of Great Barr Hall, then in Staffordshire. In around 1777 he replaced the hall with a new building. In 1799 he served as High Sheriff of Staffordshire and was member of parliament for Worcester in 1802–1806. Joseph Scott (1728 – September 29, 1800) was a soldier, merchant, government office holder, and political figure in Nova Scotia. He was a member of the 2nd Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1759 to 1760. He built the Scott Manor House. Joseph was born at Ballingarry, Tipperary, Ireland in 1728, the third child of eight children born to John and Mary Scott. His grandfather Jeremiah came to Ireland with William III's invading English forces in 1690 and fought at the Battle of the Boyne. He later acquired a land grant in Ballingarry and developed it into a successful estate. Scott served as quartermaster in one of the regiments raised by Governor Shirley of Massachusetts and arrived in Nova Scotia aboard the British vessel London as part of Edward Cornwallis' expedition to establish Halifax in 1749. Joseph Nicol Scott M.D. (1703?–1769) was an English physician, dissenting minister and writer. Life He was the eldest son of Thomas Scott, an Independent minister at Hitchin and then Norwich, the half-brother of Daniel Scott, and was born about 1703 at Hitchin in Hertfordshire; Thomas Scott was his brother, and Elizabeth Scott his sister. He acted as his father's assistant at the Old Meeting in Norwich from about 1725, but his religious views became Arian, and he was dismissed in 1737 or 1738. Scott was then established by his Norwich friends in a Sunday lectureship at the French church, St Mary the Less. At first he drew good audiences, including members of the Church of England, but his lectures were discontinued by 1743. Scott studied medicine at Edinburgh, and graduated M.D. in 1744.
