Joseph Reid (politician)
Joseph Lloyd Reid (24 September 1917 – 14 August 2015) was a Canadian politician. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a lawyer by career. Reid was president of the St. Catharines Chamber of Commerce in the mid-1960s and was the city's mayor from 1973 to 1976. He represented the riding of St. Catharines, Ontario, where he was first elected in 1979. Joseph Reid (wrestler)
Joseph Reid (17 March 1905 – 8 February 1968) was an English wrestler. He was a six-time British champion and represented Great Britain at the 1932 Summer Olympics. Wrestling career Reid was born in Leigh, Lancashire. Trained by fellow Leigh native, Harry Pennington, Reid became a skilled amateur and catch wrestler. He was a six-time British champion from 1930–1935. In 1932, he competed in the freestyle bantamweight tournament of the Olympic Games. Reid was eliminated after losing two of his three matches in the freestyle bantamweight division and finished fifth over all. At the 1930 Empire Games, he won the silver medal in the bantamweight class. Four years later, he won the bronze medal in the bantamweight category at the 1934 Empire Games. Jessica Whitney Dubroff (May 5, 1988 – April 11, 1996) was a seven-year-old American trainee pilot who died while attempting to become the youngest person to fly a light aircraft across the United States. On day two of her quest, the Cessna 177B Cardinal single-engine aircraft, piloted by her flight instructor, Joe Reid, crashed during a rainstorm immediately after takeoff from Cheyenne Regional Airport in Cheyenne, Wyoming, killing Dubroff, her 57-year-old father Lloyd Dubroff, and Reid. Although billed by the media as a pilot, Dubroff was not legally able to be a pilot because of her age. She did not possess a medical certificate or a student pilot certificate, since they require a minimum age of 16 or a pilot certificate that requires a minimum age of 17, according to U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Joseph Neel Reid (October 23, 1885 – February 14, 1926), also referred to as Neel Reid, was a prominent architect in Atlanta, Georgia, in the early 20th century as a partner in his firm Hentz, Reid and Adler.
