Joseph P. Allyn
Joseph Pratt Allyn (March 9, 1833 – May 24, 1869) was an American jurist and journalist who served as one of the original Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Arizona Territory. Background Allyn was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Timothy Mather and Susan Ann (Pratt) Allyn on March 9, 1833. His family was wealthy and he was educated by private tutors due to chronic health problems. Upon reaching adulthood, Allyn went to work at a local wholesaling firm. His health problems soon reappeared and he took a tour of Europe in an attempt to recover.Goff, ''Arizona Territorial Officials Volume I'', pp. 37 In 1859 Allyn became a United States Congress, Congressional attaché, a position he held for two years. At the same time he served as a correspondent to the ''Hartford Evening Press''.
