Joseph Noyon
Joseph-Aimé-Paul Noyon (3 October 1888 – 15 October 1962) was a French organist and composer of classical music. Biography Joseph Noyon was born at Cherbourg (France). He studied organ and church music at the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, Cherbourg, and later became the organist at the St. Clément's Church, Cherbourg, Church of St. Clément. In 1904 he moved to Paris to study at the École Niedermeyer, where he was student of Charles Wilfrid de Bériot, Paul Viardot, Alfred Marichelle and Henri Dallier and later of Paul Vidal at the Conservatoire de Paris. In later years he became himself teacher of harmony and music theory at the École Niedermeyer. During his musical career Joseph Noyon was organist and teacher at the Great Organ of the church at Saint-Cloud, teacher at Notre-Dame-d'Auteuil, accompanist to the choirs at Sainte-Chapelle, director of the choirs of the Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française and teacher at the church of Saint-Honoré-d'Eylau for 12 years. ... An organist is a musician who plays any type of organ (music), organ. An organist may play organ repertoire, solo organ works, play with an musical ensemble, ensemble or orchestra, or accompany one or more singers or instrumentalist, instrumental soloists. Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (RTF; ''French Radio and Television Broadcasting'') was the French national public broadcaster television organization established on 9 February 1949 to replace the post-war "''Radiodiffusion Française''" (RDF), which had been founded on 23 March 1945 to replace ''Radiodiffusion Nationale'' (RN), created on 29 July 1939. It was replaced in its turn, on 26 June 1964, by the notionally less-strictly government controlled Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française (ORTF), which itself lasted until the end of 1974. RTF was both state-owned and state-controlled. With a budget set by the French National Assembly under the direction of the Ministry of Information, all of its spending and investment plans had to be directly agreed by the Minister of Information and the Minister of Finance. ''Rose-Marie'' is an operetta-style musical with music by Rudolf Friml and Herbert Stothart, and book and lyrics by Otto Harbach and Oscar Hammerstein II. The story is set in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and concerns Rose-Marie La Flemme, a French Canadian girl who loves miner Jim Kenyon. When Jim falls under suspicion for murder, her brother Emile plans for Rose-Marie to marry Edward Hawley, a city man. The work premiered on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre on September 2, 1924, running for 557 performances. It was the longest-running Broadway musical of the 1920s until it was surpassed by '' The Student Prince'' (1926). It was then produced at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London in 1925, enjoying another extraordinary run of 581 performances. It was filmed in 1928, in 1936 and again in 1954.
