Joseph Nickerson
Joe Nickerson (April 1914 Thoresway, Lincolnshire – 1990 Palm Beach, Florida) was a highly successful farmer, entrepreneur and countryman. Founder of Nickerson Seed Company in 1940 and based in Rothwell, Lincolnshire he introduced 80 cereal varieties and winter barley to the UK. The company was sold to Shell in 1970 and subsequently Groupe Limagrain. In 1960 he founded Cherry Valley Farms Ltd, leading supplier of duck breeding stock and exporting globally. He had two daughters; Louise and the journalist Rosie Whitaker née Nickerson. Thoresway
Thoresway is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is west from the B1225 road, southeast from Caistor and north-east from Market Rasen. The population (including Kirmond le Mire and Stainton le Vale) was 198 at the 2011 census. Thoresway is recorded in ''Domesday Book'' as "Toreswe", and listed as having 62 households and two mills. In an 1187 Gilbertine charter it was listed as "Toresweie". The name may derive from:- * Old Norse ''Þórirs vegr'' = "way of a Viking called Thórir", or * Old Norse ''Þórs væ'' = "temple of the god Thor". Palm Beach is an incorporated town in Palm Beach County, Florida. Located on a barrier island in east-central Palm Beach County, the town is separated from several nearby cities including West Palm Beach and Lake Worth Beach by the Intracoastal Waterway to its west, though Palm Beach borders a small section of the latter and South Palm Beach at its southern boundaries. Major General Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster, (22 December 1951 – 9 August 2016), was a British landowner, businessman, philanthropist, Territorial Army general, and peer.
