Joseph Morris (Alberta Politician)
Joseph Henry Morris (July 12, 1867 – April 19, 1939) was a politician and municipal councillor in Edmonton, Alberta. Biography Morris was born in Blenheim, Ontario on July 12, 1868. He attended public schools in Ontario, and moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta upon graduating. He relocated to Lethbridge shortly thereafter. In Lethbridge, he was manager for general merchant J. H. Cavanagh until 1895 and also served on the Lethbridge City Council as an alderman and as president of the Lethbridge Board of Trade. He married Margaret Drummond Jardine in June 1895; the pair had four children. He came to Edmonton in 1897 to open J. H. Morris & Company. The following year he also established a wholesale grocery. He ran for Edmonton Town Council in the 1900 municipal election, and finished second of eight candidates, making him one of three people elected to two year terms as aldermen. Joseph Wilson Morris
Joseph Wilson Morris (April 28, 1922 – November 11, 2021) was an American attorney, arbitrator and United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. He was a partner in the Tulsa, Oklahoma law firm of Gable Gotwals. Early life and education Morris was born in Rice County, Kansas on April 28, 1922. He graduated from Reno Community High School in Nickerson, Kansas. He received an Artium Baccalaureus degree in political science from Washburn University in 1943. He received a Bachelor of Laws from the Washburn University School of Law in 1947 graduating first in his class and Order of the Coif. He received a Master of Laws from the University of Michigan Law School in 1948. Morris received a Doctor of Juridical Science from the same institution in 1955. Joseph Robert Morris (April 24, 1828 December 6, 1885) was a metal worker, business owner, investor, and inventor. He briefly served as mayor of Houston, Texas. Early life and family Joseph Robert Morris was born on April 24, 1828 in Milton, Connecticut, now a part of Litchfield. He attended school through the age of fourteen, when he moved to New Haven, Connecticut for an apprenticeship to a tinner. He moved with his two younger brothers and his father to Bastrop, Texas around 1845. Career Morris established a tin shop in Bastrop that quickly failed. He relocated to Houston with his family, where he performed metal work for Alexander McGowan. Joseph Morris (born August 17, 1989) is a sailor who lives in the United States and attended Yale University, where he earned the New England College Sailor of the Year Award in 2012. He was named captain twice (2011, 2012) and was a four-time ICSA All-American skipper. Prior to Yale, he was a five-time national champion. He and teammate Thomas Barrows competed on behalf of the United States in the 2016 Rio Olympics, participating in the men's two-person high-performance 49er class event. Joseph "Jammy" Acton Morris (28 May 1901 - 1987) was an English geographer and school teacher who was an advocate of geographical field work and president of the Geographical Association. He prepared the Sketch-map Histories series with Irene Richards and numerous other geographical textbooks. He wrote the history of the Latymer School at Edmonton where he taught for 36 years.
