Joseph Milton Carr
Joseph Milton Carr (December 24, 1858 – August 26, 1929) was a merchant and politician in Ontario, Canada. He represented Parry Sound in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario The Legislative Assembly of Ontario (OLA, french: AssemblĂ©e lĂ©gislative de l'Ontario) is the legislative chamber of the Canadian province of Ontario. The son of Thomas Carr and Adeline Alexander, he was born in Sweaburg and was educated in Woodstock. In 1880, he married Mary Street. Carr operated a general store in Powassan but moved his business to Cobalt in 1905 after silver was discovered there. His business was destroyed by fire and he became involved in mining. Carr later retired, living in Hamilton and Barrie until his wife's death around 1924, when he moved back to Powassan. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada, the titular designation "Member of Provincial Parliament" has also been used to refer to members of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1791 to 1838, and to members of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1955 to 1968. Before the adoption of this resolution, members had no fixed designation. Prior to Confederation in 1867, members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada had been known by various titles, including MPP, MLA and MHA.
