Joseph L. Hurley
Joseph Leo Hurley (April 20, 1898 – April 29, 1956) was an American Democratic politician who served as the 52nd Lieutenant Governor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1935 to 1937. Early life Hurley was born to John and Margaret (Sullivan) Hurley on April 20, 1898 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Hurley was of Irish descent. James Michael Curley
James Michael Curley (November 20, 1874 – November 12, 1958) was an American Democratic politician from Boston, Massachusetts. He served four terms as mayor of Boston. He also served a single term as governor of Massachusetts, characterized by one biographer as "a disaster mitigated only by moments of farce" for its free spending and corruption. He also served two terms, separated by 30 years, in the United States Congress. He had also, in his early career, served on both the Boston Common Council and Boston Board of Aldermen, as well as in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Michael was a frequent candidate for other state and national offices. He was twice convicted of criminal behavior and notably served time in prison during his last term as mayor. Lieutenant Governor Of Massachusetts
The lieutenant governor of Massachusetts is the first in the line to discharge the powers and duties of the office of governor following the incapacitation of the Governor of Massachusetts. The constitutional honorific title for the office is His, or Her, Honor. The Massachusetts Constitution provides that when a governor dies, resigns, or is removed from office, the office of governor remains vacant for the rest of the 4-year term. The lieutenant governor discharges powers and duties as ''acting governor'' and does not assume the office of governor. A lieutenant ( , ; abbreviated Lt., Lt, LT, Lieut and similar) is a commissioned officer rank in the armed forces of many nations. The meaning of lieutenant differs in different militaries (see comparative military ranks), but it is often subdivided into senior (first lieutenant) and junior (second lieutenant and even third lieutenant) ranks. Alexander Clark Murray (24 July 1900 – 28 November 1983) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in West Zorra Township, Ontario, and became a pharmacist after graduating from high school (Woodstock Collegiate Institute) then the College of Pharmacy affiliated with the University of Toronto. He operated Clark Murray Pharmacy in Woodstock, Ontario. He was first elected to Parliament at the Oxford riding in the 1949 general election and served for one term.
