Joseph Kamau
Joseph Kamau (also known as ''Joseph Kamau Njuguna'', b. June 17, 1969) is a former professional long-distance runner from Kenya who finished second in the 1997 Boston Marathon and third in the 1996 New York City Marathon. Professional Career Joseph Kamau had been a professional runner since the age of 19. He was born in a small village in Kenya's Rift Valley Province. His speed while running got faster over the years and he was named to the Kenyan World Championship team in the half marathon in 1992. He finished 30th in 1:02:30 and the team (which also featured Lameck Aguta, Joseph Keino, Cosmas Ndeti, and winner Benson Masya) finished first. His marathon personal record of 2:10:40 from New York prompted Boston news organizations and Runner's World to regard him as one of the fastest runners in the world. Joseph Keino
Joseph Keino (born 1963) is a retired Kenyan long-distance runner. He represented his country at the inaugural 1992 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, where he came fifth and won the team gold medal with Kenya. In 1991 he ran his half marathon career best of 1:00.33 hours in Grevenmacher, taking second place at the race. He won the 1991 Dam tot Damloop 10-miler and his time of 46:05 minutes for the distance was the fastest by any athlete in the world that year. In the same year as his IAAF World Half Marathon medal performance, he won the Egmond Half Marathon (two seconds off Marti ten Kate's course record) and the Route du Vin Half Marathon. John Kagwe
John Karunga Kagwe (born 9 January 1969) is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who had back-to-back wins at the New York City Marathon from 1997 to 1998. He set his lifetime best of 2:08:12 hours as part of his first victory there. Kagwe's professional road racing career began in 1994 and he continued to compete at a high level until 2006. After he turned forty and entered the veterans category, he returned to running, making some appearances in 2011. He also won the Prague International Marathon and the San Diego Marathon. Giacomo Leone (born 10 April 1971 in Francavilla Fontana, Brindisi) is a retired male long-distance runner from Italy. He set his personal best (2:07:52) in the marathon on 4 March 2001 in Otsu, Japan. Leone is best known for winning the 1996 edition of the New York City Marathon. Biography He was the last European to win New York City Marathon before the African dominance, except Brazilian victories in 2006 and 2008. Leone still holds the record of "Italian most quick" to NYC Marathon. Moses Tanui (born 20 August 1965 in Sugoi Nandi District, Kenya) is a former Kenyan long-distance runner who won the gold medal over 10,000 metres at the 1991 World Championships in Athletics in Tokyo.
