Joseph Hilongwa Jermia (born September 18, 1981) is a boxer from Namibia, who participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics for his native African country. There he was stopped in the quarterfinals of the light flyweight (48 kg) division by Russia's eventual bronze medal winner Sergey Kazakov. Light Flyweight
Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Sergey Kazakov
Sergey Kazakov (born July 8, 1976) is a Russian amateur boxer best known to win the World Championships 2003 and European Championships 1998, 2002 and 2004 in the Men's Light Flyweight. Kazakov won the European Championships in 1998. In 2000 he lost at the European Championships to Valeriy Sydorenko in the finals and at the Olympics 2000 against reigning world champ Brian Viloria (6:8) in the first round. In 2003 he won the World Championships with a close final victory against future star Zou Shiming (23:19). He added a victory at the European championships 2002 and 2004 by beating Alfonso Pinto. 2004 at the Olympics he was upset by young Turk Atagün Yalçınkaya and had to settle for bronze. 2005 at the world championships he again lost to a teenager in Hungary's Pal Bedak.
