Joseph Henry Widdifield
Joseph Henry Widdifield (June 12, 1845 – June 3, 1906) was an Ontario physician and political figure. He represented York North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1875 to 1888. He was born in Whitchurch, Upper Canada in 1845, the son of Charles Ellis Widdifield, and studied medicine at Victoria College and St Thomas's Hospital Medical School in London. On his return to Canada, Widdifield set up practice in Newmarket. He served as a coroner and justice of the peace of Victoria County. He also served in the militia during the Fenian raids. He was whip for the provincial Liberal party from 1877 to 1883. Widdifield served as deputy Grand Master for the Masonic order in the Toronto district and also served as provincial medical examiner for the order. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. The County of Victoria, or Victoria County, was a county in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was formed in 1854 as ''The United Counties of Peterborough and Victoria'', and separated from Peterborough in 1863. In 2001, the county was dissolved and reformed as the city of Kawartha Lakes. North Bay, Ontario
North Bay is a city in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is the seat of Nipissing District, and takes its name from its position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. North Bay developed as a railroad centre, and its airport was an important military location during the Cold War. History The site of North Bay is part of a historic canoe route where Samuel de Champlain took a party up the Ottawa River, through present-day Mattawa, on to Trout Lake and via the La Vase Creek to Lake Nipissing. Apart from Indigenous people, voyageurs and surveyors, there was little activity in the Lake Nipissing area until the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1882. The Canadian city of North Bay, Ontario, is divided into numerous neighbourhoods. Birchaven Birchaven1 is a neighbourhood located to the south of Trout Lake Road. Many people unfamiliar with this area and have incorrect maps mistakenly believe that it is called Birch Haven. Birchaven1 borders Trout Lake and extends to Wallace Road. Downtown North Bay's Downtown is located along the shore of Lake Nipissing, between the Gateway and Ferris neighbourhoods. The area is aligned southeast to northwest, and bounded roughly by Fisher Street, Memorial Drive, Algonquin Avenue and Fifth Avenue. Feronia Feronia is a dispersed rural community and unincorporated place (). It used to be a farming community with a school, general store and community centre. Widdifield Secondary School
Widdifield Secondary School (WSS) was a high school located on Ski Club Road in North Bay, Ontario. It was a member of the Near North District School Board. Overview Widdifield's motto was "Mens Quaerens in Corpore Sano," loosely meaning "an inquiring mind in a sound body." Alumni are known as the Widdifield Wildcats, and the school colours were red and royal blue. The school was founded in 1965. Because of the extensive area of the school zone, 35% of the approximately 900 students were bussed. Widdifield was also the first school in Canada to incorporate the option of receiving the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)- Arts and Culture certificate upon graduation.
