Joe Doyle (politician)
Joseph Doyle (27 June 1936 – 8 August 2009) was an Irish Fine Gael politician. He served two terms as a deputy for the Dublin South-East constituency. He served variously as a member of Dublin City Council, Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann, becoming Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1998 to 1999. Political career Doyle, a former sacristan in the local Roman Catholic church in Donnybrook, was first elected to public office at the 1979 local elections, to represent the Pembroke area for Fine Gael on Dublin City Council. He served continually in City Hall from 1979 until his retirement at the 2004 local elections. Between 1998 and 1999 he served as Lord Mayor of Dublin. Joe Doyle (February 27, 1941 – April 7, 2020) was an American artist. He is one of the original painters in the style, abstract illusionism, of the 1970s and has since evolved his style using computerized technologies to create Digital art. Life and work Doyle established himself as a painter during the movement toward new abstraction in San Francisco in the mid-seventies. Stylistically his work evolved from photo-realist renderings of aircraft which exaggerated differences in focus of background and foreground". By 1975 his imagery shifted to arrangements of flat, geometric forms and tubular squiggles in a ''trompe-l'œil'' manner that created the illusion of a multi-layered, three dimensional space. Joe Doyle (born 8 May 1977) is the bassist and backing singer for Irish rock band The Frames and The Swell Season. He has been a member of The Frames since 1996, appearing on six albums to date. In addition to appearing on Frames albums, he has also plays bass and contributes backing vocals to two Swell Season albums: the soundtrack to "Once" and "Strict Joy." He is currently touring as a member of the Swell Season, which also includes Glen Hansard (vocals/guitar), Marketa Irglova (vocals/piano), Graham Hopkins (drums/backing vocals), Rob Botchnik (lead guitar/backing vocals) and Colm Mac Con Iomaire (violin/backing vocals). Joseph Doyle, born 1933, Dublin, Ireland, was an Irish road racing cyclist and cycle sport administrator, holding office at club, county and national federation level for more than 20 years, including 14 years as national treasurer. Life Cycling career After a childhood leg illness, Doyle began cycling with the Dublin Wheelers Cycling Club in the 1950s; he was joined by his brother Noel, and later another brother, Frank. He participated in road races and time trials and, after winning the handicap event of the Wheelers Winter Cycling League in 1954, was selected to ride in the Isle of Man international annual races in 1955, then one of the main external race destinations from Ireland, as well as races in Belgium and France. Doyle Settlement was a ranch and settlement in Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 4, 1980. Joseph Doyle Joseph Doyle purchased 1,200 acres of land along two miles of the Huerfano River in 1859 and established the Doyle Settlement. The land was from the Vigil and St. Vrain Land Grant. Born in 1817 in what is now West Virginia, Doyle came west as a young man and was a trapper and trader. He was one of the builders of El Pueblo in the current city of Pueblo, Colorado and then was a farmer, businessman, and territorial lawyer. He was the first county commissioner for Huerfano County. He operated a post office from him home Casa Blanca, having been appointed postmaster. Judd Bruce Doyle (September 15, 1881 – November 21, 1947) was a right-handed Major League Baseball pitcher from to for the New York Highlanders and Cincinnati Reds. Doyle got his nickname "Slow Joe" early in his baseball career because he was a very slow working pitcher. He would take a lot of time between pitches, often stalling for notable amounts of time. Minor league career Upon graduation from Clay Center High School in May , Doyle began pitching in Ellsworth, Kansas. He caught the eye of Ted Sullivan, who recruited him for the Fort Worth Panthers of the Class D Texas League in . In 1902, he also pitched for the Southern Association's New Orleans Pelicans, going 21-18 between his two squads.
