Joseph Booth & Bros was an English company notable for making cranes used in large construction projects. History Jeremiah Booth, the father of Joseph Booth, entered the crane making business with partners Jeremiah Balmforth and David Smith. They had established their business in the Calverley area of Leeds in 1820 and were joined by Jeremiah Booth in 1833. The company made machinery for mills, and from 1840 their range included hand-operated cranes. In 1847 Jeremiah Booth left and established his own crane making company at the 'Union Foundry' in Rodley, West Yorkshire. The works was situated on a narrow strip of land between Town Street and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. In 1855 the company passed to Jeremiah Booth's son Joseph, and the name Joseph Booth & Bros was adopted. For most of the company's history, it operated alongside the 'Old Foundry' of Thomas Smith & Sons, Thomas Smith being the son of the David Smith who had formerly been in partnership with Jeremiah Booth. Joseph Booth (missionary)
Joseph Booth (1851 in Derby, England – 1932) was an English missionary working in British Central Africa (present-day Malawi) and South Africa. In his 30s, Booth abandoned his career as a businessman and, for the rest of his life, he undertook missionary work for several Christian denominations including Baptist, Seventh Day Baptist and Seventh-day Adventist churches, and he was appointed a missionary by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania. Throughout his successive ministries, his defining beliefs were a radical egalitarianism, including a scheme of "Africa for the Africans"’ and, from 1898, Seventh-Day Sabbath (Sabbatarian) observance. Joseph Booth (bishop)
Joseph John Booth (26 May 1887 – 30 October 1965) was the 7th Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne. Booth was educated at the University of Melbourne and ordained as a priest in 1914. His first position was as a chaplain to the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force during World War I. When peace came he became vicar of Fairfield, Victoria and later the Archdeacon of Dandenong before becoming a coadjutor bishop in the Melbourne diocese (with the courtesy title of "Bishop of Geelong") and often deputised for the archbishop, Frederick Waldegrave Head. In 1936 he additionally became Archdeacon of Melbourne. Booth became the archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne in 1942. Joseph Booth (a stage name, real surname Martin) (died 1797) was an English tradesman, actor and inventor. Theatrical career Booth's life is not well documented. Initially a hosier at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, he went on the stage. In 1774, when he recruited Thomas Holcroft to his company at Carlisle, Booth was a provincial theatrical manager in the north of England. The position was a temporary one, the company manager West Digges being absent. The company contained other well-known names: Elizabeth Inchbald, James Perry, William Shield. A business proposition concerned with making reproductions of paintings, by a process kept secret, was something Booth discussed with Holcroft around 1780; at this period he was an assistant prompter at Covent Garden Theatre. Seeley Joseph Booth is a fictional character in the US television series '' Bones'' (2005–2017), portrayed by David Boreanaz. Agent Booth is a co-protagonist of the series with Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), whom he affectionately refers to as "Bones".
