Joseph Ashton (born November 18, 1986) is an American former child actor, who was best known for his role as Oswald "Otto" Rocket in Nickelodeon's animated series ''Rocket Power''. Early life Joseph Ashton was born on November 18, 1986, in Cherokee, California. Both of his parents claim Cherokee descent. He is the younger brother of actor Mathew Valencia. Career Ashton begin his acting career in 1994, he first appeared before the camera as an infant in a national McDonald's commercial. He had a regular role on the CBS drama ''L.A. Doctors''. His guest-starring roles on television series include ''ER'', ''Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman'', ''Walker, Texas Ranger'', ''Martial Law'', ''Cracker'' and ''Smart Guy''. He appeared in ''Asylum'' as Young Tordone on HBO, and the NBC mini series ''Blind Faith''. Ashton's film debut was in the 1994 remake of ''The Little Rascals''. Cherokee, California
Cherokee is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Butte County, California. It is an area inhabited by Maidu Indians prior to the gold rush, but that takes its name from a band of Cherokee prospectors who perfected a mining claim on the site. The population was 69 at the 2010 census. It lies at an elevation of 1306 feet (398 m). Possibly the site of the historic gold mine, on the 1994 Cherokee, California 7.5-minute quadrangle, a feature named "Cherokee Placer Mine" exists about 0.65 miles southwest of the above coordinates. USGS identifies Cherokee Flat and Drytown as historic variant names for the community. The town is located on Cherokee Road off State Route 70. Menehune are a mythological race of dwarf people in Hawaiian tradition who are said to live in the deep forests and hidden valleys of the Hawaiian Islands, hidden and far away from human settlements. The Menehune are described as superb craftspeople. They built temples (''heiau''), fishponds, roads, canoes, and houses. Some of these structures that Hawaiian folklore attributed to the Menehune still exist. They are said to have lived in Hawaii before settlers arrived from Polynesia many centuries ago. Their favorite food is the ''maia'' (banana), and they also like fish. Legend has it that the Menehune will only appear during night hours, in order to build masterpieces. But if they fail to complete their work in the length of the night, they will leave it unoccupied. No one but their children and humans connected to them are able to see the Menehune. The show was a surprise hit, making Hung the only East Asian headlining a primetime network series in the United States. At the time, Hung was not fluent in English and worried about the audience's ability to understand him.
