Jose K. Mani
Jose Karingozhackal Mani (born 29 May 1965) is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and former Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Kerala. He is the son of veteran politician K. M. Mani and the Chairman of Kerala Congress (M). Political career He unsuccessfully contested in the 2004 Indian general election, parliament election in 2004 from Muvattupuzha (Lok Sabha constituency), Muvattupuzha constituency, losing to P. C. Thomas. In 2007, he was elected as the General Secretary of Kerala Congress (Mani) party. He won the 2009 Indian general election, 2009 Lok Sabha election from the Kottayam (Lok Sabha constituency), Kottayam constituency, by a margin of more than 70,000 votes over K. 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held in Kerala on 6 April 2021 to elect 140 members to the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. The results were declared on 2 May. The election saw the incumbent Left Democratic Front (LDF) retaining power with 99 seats, 8 more than in the previous election, marking the first time that an alliance won consecutive terms in the state since its 1977 election. The United Democratic Front (UDF) won the remaining 41 seats, 6 less than in the previous election. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was unable to win any seats after losing their lone seat the election. Pinarayi Vijayan became the first Chief Minister of Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full, five-year term in office. A Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha (abbreviated: MP) is the representative of the Indian states to the one of the two houses of the Parliament of India (Rajya Sabha). Rajya Sabha MPs are elected by the electoral college of the elected members of the State Assembly with a system of proportional representation by a single transferable vote. Parliament of India is bicameral with two houses; Rajya Sabha (Upper house i.e. Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (Lower house i.e. House of the People). 2020 Kerala Local Elections
Elections to local bodies (Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations) in Kerala were held in December 2020. The polling was held in three stages; on 8, 10 and 14 December, with the votes counted and results announced on 16 December. The Left Democratic Front (LDF), who also forms the state government, won in more than half of all gram panchayats, two-thirds of district panchayats and in four out of six municipal corporations. The United Democratic Front (UDF), led by Indian National Congress (INC), improved its vote share nearly by 0.7%, compared to that in the previous 2015 election. Left Democratic Front (Kerala)
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is an alliance of left-wing political parties in the state of Kerala, India. It is the current ruling political alliance of Kerala, since 2016. It is one of the two major political alliances in Kerala, the other being Indian National Congress-led United Democratic Front, each of which has been in power alternately for the last four decades. The Panchayat raj is a political system, originating from the Indian subcontinent, found mainly in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. It is the oldest system of local government in the Indian subcontinent, and historical mentions date to the 250 CE period. Kerala Congress is an Indian political party founded at Kottayam, Kerala in October, 1964, by a block of former Indian National Congress leaders led by K. M. George.
