Joscho Stephan
Joscho Stephan (born 23 June 1979 in Mönchengladbach, West Germany) is a German jazz guitarist who is known for his lightning fast plectrum picking and interpretation of classical, jazz and pop standards in the style of Gypsy jazz. He began playing the guitar at the age of six, influenced by his father who had been a member of a cover band. Peter Autschbach
Peter Autschbach (born 1961 in Siegen, West Germany) is a German composer, guitarist and music teacher. Biography Peter Autschbach learned to play the guitar being autodidact, in 1988/89 he was a private student of jazz guitarist Joe Pass. In 1990, he completed his jazz studies at the Cologne Musikhochschule with highest honors. He joined the band of the rock opera ''Tommy'' written by Pete Townshend, he played about 1,000 shows between 1995 and 2005. He also worked for the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra being guitarist in various musicals such as ''Cabaret'' (2002) and ''West Side Story'' (2004). Later he was chosen by Brian May to be a guitarist in the Queen show "We Will Rock You" in Cologne and Vienna. Since 1998, Autschbach composes for his band Terminal A, touring in Germany and abroad. Richard Smith (born 12 December 1971) is an English guitarist specialising in the fingerstyle guitar tradition of Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, and Jerry Reed. He is the 2001 National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion. Biography Smith was born in Beckenham, England. He picked up the guitar when he was five years old after watching his father playing an Atkins and Travis version of "Down South Blues". He begged his father, a longtime Atkins admirer, to introduce him to the fingerpicking style. Smith soon became a child prodigy on the guitar. As a kid he could play the entire discographies of Django Reinhardt and Chet Atkins. At the age of 11 he shared the stage with his idol when Atkins invited Smith to play with him at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. Biréli Lagrène (born 4 September 1966) is a French jazz guitarist who came to prominence in the 1980s for his Django Reinhardt–influenced style. He often performs in swing, jazz fusion, and post-bop styles. Biography Lagrène was born in Soufflenheim, Alsace, France, into a Romani family and community. His father and grandfather were guitarists, and he was raised in the Gypsy guitar tradition. He started playing at age four or five and by seven was improvising jazz in a style similar to that of Django Reinhardt, whom his father admired and wanted his sons to emulate. In 1980, while in his early teens, he recorded his first album, ''Routes to Django: Live at the Krokodil'' (Jazzpoint, 1981).
