Beerzel
Beerzel () is a Belgian village in Antwerp Province and a deelgemeente of the municipality Putte. Beerzel was a municipality until 1977, at which time it had an area of with 4,971 inhabitants in 1995. At , Antwerp's highest point—the ''Beerzelberg''—is located in Beerzel. History Pottery from the early Bronze age had been discovered in Beerzel. The village was first mentioned as Barsale in 1151. Until the World War I, a large beech was located at the top of the Beerzelberg. Beerzel was an independent municipality until 1977 when it merged into Putte. Heist-op-den-Berg () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises Heist-op-den-Berg proper (including the hamlets: Heist-Goor, Heist-Station, Zonderschot, Heist-Centrum and Bruggeneinde), the villages of (including the hamlet Pijpelheide), , , and . History The 48-meter-high hill on which Heist would later be built (hence the adjunct name ''op-den-Berg'' meaning "on the hill") was formed during the early part of the Ice age. Critérium Du Dauphiné
The Critérium du Dauphiné, before 2010 known as the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, is an annual cycling road race in the Dauphiné region in the southeast of France. The race is run over eight days during the first half of June. It is part of the UCI World Tour calendar and counts as one of the foremost races in the lead-up to the Tour de France in July, along with the Tour de Suisse in the latter half of June. The race was inaugurated in 1947 by a local newspaper, the ''Le Dauphiné libéré, Dauphiné Libéré'', which served as the event's title sponsor until 2009. 1968 Tour De France
The 1968 Tour de France was the 55th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. It took place between 27 June and 21 July, with 22 stages covering a distance of . Eleven national teams of 10 riders competed, with three French teams, two Belgian teams and one from Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, and a combined Swiss/Luxembourgian team. The 1968 Tour marked the first time the race would end at the Vélodrome de Vincennes, replacing the now-defunct Parc des Princes Velodrome which served as the final stop from 1904 to 1967. The general classification was won by Jan Janssen, who overtook Herman Van Springel in the final time trial. Rijmenam
Rijmenam is a village located in the Belgian province of Antwerp and is part of the municipality of Bonheiden. History The area around Rijmenam had been settled since the Roman era. A chapel has been known to exist since the 11th chapel. Rijmenam used to belong the Duchy of Brabant. In 1578, the Battle of Rijmenam was fought between the Dutch States Army and the Spanish forces over control of Mechelen. The village was almost complete destroyed, and rebuilt twenty years later. It used to be an agricultural community, but during the 20th century, it became a residential area.
