Jorge Zalamea Borda (March 8, 1905 – May 10, 1969) was a Colombian writer, poet, and journalist, best known for his anti-dictatorship satirical prose works. His poems, dramas, novels, and essays are notable for their linguistic richness and ascetic, dense style. He typically explored themes of equality and liberty in his writings. The International Lenin Peace Prize (russian: международная Ленинская премия мира, ''mezhdunarodnaya Leninskaya premiya mira)'' was a Soviet Union award named in honor of Vladimir Lenin. It was awarded by a panel appointed by the Soviet government, to notable individuals whom the panel indicated had "strengthened peace among comrades". Laureano Eleuterio Gómez Castro (20 February 1889 – 13 July 1965) was a Colombian politician and civil engineer who served as the 18th President of Colombia from 1950 to 1953. In November 1951 poor health led him to cede presidential power to Roberto Urdaneta Arbelaez. On 13 June 1953, when he tried to resume his presidency, he was overthrown in a military coup led by Gustavo Rojas Pinilla. During the three decades prior to being elected president, Gómez was a radical leader of the Conservative Party and is widely considered to be one of the most brilliant and potent orators of the Congress of Colombia. However, he remains a controversial figure because of his sympathy for authoritarian regimes and the dictatorial nature of his government. Alberto Zalamea Costa (24 August 1929 – 2 September 2011) was a Colombian journalist, politician, and diplomat. He served as the ambassador of Colombia to Côte d'Ivoire, Venezuela and Italy. Zalamea began his early career as a journalist. His first job in journalism was with the ''La Razon'' newspaper. By 1959, Zalamea had been promoted to the editor of ''La Semana''. A strong proponent of freedom of the press, Zalamea operated a magazine called ''La Nueva Prensa''. He also became a columnist for '' El Tiempo'' and ''Revista Cromos''. Alberto Lleras Camargo (3 July 1906 – 4 January 1990) was the 20th President of Colombia (1958–1962), and the 1st Secretary General of the Organization of American States (1948–1954). A journalist and liberal party politician, he also served as Minister of Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and as Minister of National Education in the administrations of President Alfonso López Pumarejo.
