Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada
Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada is a Cuban-American Contemporary Artist. He was born in Cuba on February 5th,1966, and emigrated with his family to the United States in 1970. He predominantly creates work in urban spaces on a large scale. He was a founding member of the early 1990s New York culture jamming movement working first with the group ‘Artfux’ and later with the 'Cicada Corps of Artists.' During this period he also launched interventions upon billboards and public advertising. By 1997 he began to move towards solo work. In 2002 Rodríguez-Gerada moved to Barcelona where he focused on the large-scale ephemeral charcoal drawings, which comprise his ''Identity Series''. He then developed the ''Terrestrial Series''; ephemeral earthworks so expansive as to be visible from space. Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat (June 28, 1945 – August 19, 2017) was a Cuban-American politician and judge. He was a one-term member of the Florida House of Representatives representing a district in West Miami for the Republican Party from 1994 until his defeat in 1998. He served as a Judge of the Criminal and Family Divisions of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida from 2011 until his retirement in 2017.
