Jorge Ottati Junior
Jorge Ottati (born in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a television and radio sports announcer who currently works for BeIN Sports. His father is Prof. Jorge Ottati, a renowned sportscaster. He started his broadcasting career in Uruguay at the young age of 16 in Radio Rural, CX 4 Radio Capital. He also worked for several radio stations such as Radiomundo, CX 32 Radiomundo, Radio Nacional (Uruguay), CX 30 Radio Nacional, Emisora del Sur, CX 38 SODRE, Radio Centenario, CX 36 Radio Centenario, Radio María Uruguay, CX 28 Radio Imparcial, and Radio Oriental, CX 12 Radio Oriental. In 1996, he started working in television with Canal 10 (Uruguay), Canal 10 for the 1996 Summer Olympics, and then he was hired by TVC Network as a host and play-by-play announcer for professional basketball games. The Copa Merconorte () was an international football competition organized by CONMEBOL from 1998 to 2001 by clubs from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela and starting in 2000 clubs from the CONCACAF confederation were invited including Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States. The competition ran alongside the Copa Mercosur—based on the actual Mercosur economic pact between Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Teams did not directly qualify for this competition. Copa Mercosur
The Copa Mercosur (, pt, Copa Mercosul , "Mercosur Cup") was a football competition played from 1998 to 2001 by the traditional top clubs from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile. The competition was created by CONMEBOL to generate TV money to the participating teams, but it went beyond and ended up, together with the Copa Merconorte, as natural replacement to the CONMEBOL Cup.
