Jorge Luis Córdova
Jorge Luis Córdova Díaz (April 20, 1907 – September 16, 1994) served as Puerto Rico's 11th Resident Commissioner from 1969 to 1973. His father, Félix Córdova Dávila, had served as Puerto Rico's fourth Resident Commissioner from 1917 to 1932. Biography Born in Manatí, Puerto Rico, Córdova was a 1924 graduate of St. John's College High School in Washington, DC. He attained his A.B. in 1928 from Catholic University of America, and his LL.B. in 1931 from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was a lawyer in private practice. He served as a Superior Court judge in San Juan from 1940 to 1945. He served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico from 1945 to 1946. The resident commissioner of Puerto Rico () is a non-voting member of the United States House of Representatives elected by the voters of the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico every four years, the only member of the House of Representatives who serves a four-year term. Because the Commissioner represents the entire U.S. territory irrespective of its population, and is not subject to congressional apportionment like those House members representing the 50 states, Puerto Rico's at-large congressional district is the largest congressional district by population in all of the United States. The New Progressive Party ( es, Partido Nuevo Progresista, PNP) is a political party in Puerto Rico that advocates statehood. Martín Travieso
Martín Travieso, Jr. (July 6, 1882 – January 15, 1971) was a Puerto Rican politician, senator, lawyer, and judge. He was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1917 to 1921. He also served as Mayor of San Juan from 1921 to 1923. Biography Martín Travieso was born in 1882 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He received his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1903. In 1904, Travieso joined the Union Party in Puerto Rico, serving as member of the Executive Cabinet from 1908 to 1914. In 1917, he served as provisional governor. That same year, Travieso was elected to the first Senate of Puerto Rico. He served as senator for one term until 1921. After that, he served as Mayor of San Juan from 1921 to 1923. The Córdova/Fernós Congressional Internship Program is a publicly funded internship program created in 1993 through legislation authored by then Puerto Rico senator and current Secretary of State Kenneth McClintock and signed into law by Gov. Pedro Rosselló. Administered by a joint committee of the Puerto Rico Legislature and run by The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC), the program provides the opportunity every year for 40 college students to experience a semester-long internship in an assigned congressional office of either chamber, in the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, or at Telemundo or Univision. Pedro Rosselló
Pedro Juan Rosselló González, (; born April 5, 1944) is a Puerto Rican physician and politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 2001. He was President of the New Progressive Party from 1991 to 1999 and 2003 to 2008, and served as Senator for the District of Arecibo from 2005 to 2008. His son, Ricardo was also Governor of Puerto Rico from 2017 to 2019. In 1988 Rosselló ran for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, but lost to Jaime Fuster in the 1988 elections. From 1990 to 1991 he successfully challenged former Governor and then-NPP President Carlos Romero Barceló for the NPP's presidency.
