Alan Jope (born 1964) is a British businessman, and the CEO of Unilever since January 2019, succeeding Paul Polman. Education Jope was born in Scotland. He earned a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Edinburgh Business School. He also attended Harvard Business School's general management program in 2001. Career Jope joined Unilever in 1985 as a graduate marketing trainee. He was the president of Beauty & Personal Care, the largest division at Unilever. Bernhard Jope (10 May 1914 – 31 July 1995) was a German bomber pilot during World War II. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves of Nazi Germany. As part of Kampfgeschwader 40 (bomber wing), Jope flew missions across the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean in support of the German navy, damaging in October 1940 the . Margaret Jope
Margaret Jope (1913–2004) was a Scottish biochemist, born Henrietta Margaret Halliday in Peterhead, Scotland. She carried out research into brachiopods. Biography She took her degree in chemistry at the University of Aberdeen, and her Doctor of Philosophy, DPhil at Somerville College, Oxford. She met her future husband Martyn Jope while working at the Dyson Perrins Laboratory at University of Oxford. After their marriage she accompanied him to Belfast, where he later became Professor of Archaeology at Queen's University Belfast, Queen's University. Margaret continued her research while at Belfast, in the Geology Department, where she worked primarily on brachiopods, especially on their shell protein. Her other research interests included the crystallisation of Hemoglobin, haemoglobin, and working with Martyn, made studies of animal bones, especially bird bones, at archaeological sites mainly in Northern Ireland and Oxfordshire. Martyn Jope
Edward Martyn Jope (28 December 1915 – 14 November 1996) was an English archaeologist and chemist. He worked temporarily during the Second World War as a biochemist. Following the war, he returned to working in archaeology, first as a medievalist and later as a prehistorian. Life and career Martyn Jope studied at Oriel College, Oxford. While studying for his first degree in chemistry, he worked intensively on the archaeology of the city of Oxford. Soon he joined the Oxford University Archaeological Society and in due course became secretary and president. His first appointment was in 1938 by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. Until the outbreak of World War II, he excavated the medieval settlement of Bere together with R. I. ''Ratu'' Jope Naucabalavu Seniloli (14 June 1939 – 28 June 2015) was a Fijian chief who held the title of Turaga Taukei Naua and who served as Fiji's vice-president from 25 March 2001 to 29 November 2004, when he was forced to resign following his conviction for treason on 6 August 2004, and the rejection of his appeal early in November.
