Joon Lee
John Lee (born March 23, 1972), better known by his Korean name, Joon Lee (Korean: 이준), is a Korean American rapper, singer, songwriter, DJ, and most notably one-third of the South Korean R&B/ hip-hop trio, Solid. He introduced turntablism to Korea in the mid '90s. He rose to fame and gained popularity in 1995 with the breakout hit "Holding the End of the Night" (Korean: 이밤의 끝을 잡고), from Solid's second album ''The Magic of 8 Ball'' (1995). Lee is regarded as part of the first generation of Korean rappers like the members of Uptown and Hyundo Lee. Solid (Korean language, Korean: 솔리드) is a South Korean Rhythm and blues, R&B/Hip hop music, Hip-Hop trio. They were formed in Orange County, California, in 1992, and made their debut in Seoul, South Korea, in 1993. The group consists of George Han Kim, Johan Kim (김조한: George Kim), Jae Chong, Jaeyoon Chong (정재윤: Jae Chong), and Joon Lee (이준: John Lee). Turntablism
Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating new music, sound effects, mixes and other creative sounds and beats, typically by using two or more turntables and a cross fader-equipped DJ mixer. The mixer is plugged into a PA system (for live events) and/or broadcasting equipment (if the DJ is performing on radio, TV or Internet radio) so that a wider audience can hear the turntablist's music. Turntablists atypically manipulate records on a turntable by moving the record with their hand to cue the stylus to exact points on a record, and by touching or moving the platter or record to stop, slow down, speed up or, spin the record backwards, or moving the turntable platter back and forth (the popular rhythmic "scratching" effect which is a key part of hip hop music), all while using a DJ mixer's crossfader control and the mixer's gain and equalization controls to adjust the sound and level of each turntable. Jae Chong (born January 8, 1972) is a musician and producer known for his works in the Asian music scene. He has written and produced for many artists such as L.A. Boyz, Stanley Huang, and more recently Aziatix and Royal Pirates. Career Chong's professional music career started in Los Angeles during the early 1990s, producing local rap groups such as Baby G, The Funky Few, and Soul Selection. He is one of the three members of the group, Solid (as well as the writer and producer), which was the first R&B group in South Korea with record sales exceeding 4 million. Kang Hee-gun (; born February 24, 1978), better known by his stage name Gary ( ko, 개리, often spelled as Garie), is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and television personality.
