Jonesville is an unincorporated community in Butte County, California. It is situated on Jones Creek Jones Creek is a village in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. Jonesville was established in the 1860's as a hotel and way station on the Humboldt Wagon Road that connected Chico to silver mines in Idaho and Nevada. Traffic on the Humboldt Road declined after the completion of railroads, but Jonesville continued as a successful mountain resort community for vacationers escaping the severe summer heat of the Sacramento Valley. The Jonesville Hotel remains standing today and was restored in 2019. Jonesville is an unincorporated community in Alachua County, Florida, United States. It is located roughly at the intersection of County Road 241 and State Road 26 (Newberry Road). Jonesville has no city government but is an informal name for a region on Newberry Road between Gainesville and Newberry. While no clear delineation has been made for what includes Jonesville, its eastern boundary is 122nd street (colloquially known as Parker Road), due to the City of Gainesville owning up to the eastern side of the road. All the other limits are vague. Jonesville may extend as far west as to 170th St. Approximate northern and southern markers for the region are NW 39th Avenue and SW 8th Avenue, respectively. Jonesville is an unincorporated community in LaSalle County, Illinois. The community is located along Illinois State Routes 71 and 351, serving as the latter's eastern terminus. It is also located near the Illinois River. The community is part of the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Jonesville was created before the end of the Civil War in 1865. This was when the LaSalle County Carbon Coal Company opened a mineshaft, which was owned by O.L. Jones, the namesake of Jonesville. The mine closed in 1929, perhaps due to a strike by the miners. The mine was bought by Union Coal, who sold the land rather than reopening the mine. Jonesville is the largest town in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, United States, at the confluence of the Ouachita, Tensas, and Little rivers. The three rivers become the Black River at Jonesville. Jonesville is a city in Hillsdale County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,176 at the 2020 census. History The area was first settled by brothers Benaiah and Edmund Jones, who came here from Painesville, Ohio in 1828 and purchased land the next year. They surveyed and platted the community by 1831. It served as the first county seat of Hillsdale County, which was formally organized in 1835. The Jonesville post office opened on January 21, 1841. The community incorporated as a village in 1855. Jonesville once contained a railway station along the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway. Jonesville, Virginia
Jonesville is a town in and the county seat of Lee County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,034 at the 2010 census. History Jonesville was a small but thriving center of local commerce in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but like most towns in the central Appalachian region, it fell into gradual economic decline as the coal boom ebbed in the latter half of the twentieth century. By the end of the century much of the commercial real estate in its downtown area was either unoccupied or underutilized.
