Jonathan Yudkin
Jonathan Yudkin is an American multi-instrumentalist who is a proficient player of banjo, violin, mandolin, and other stringed instruments. He is a Nashville-based session musician, record producer, arranger, and band leader. Biography Growing up in Philadelphia, Yudkin's father led a synagogue choir, and his mother was the featured soloist. Yudkin studied violin privately for many years, but—inspired by the example of David Bromberg—he was drawn to playing country music. Yudkin joined the band RD1, the house band at the Lone Star Cafe in New York City. In the early 1980s, he moved to Nashville and joined Leon Russell's Paradise Band. Yudkin has worked with Kathy Mattea, John Hartford, Rascal Flatts, Lonestar, Taylor Swift, Robert Earl Keen, Terri Clark, Shania Twain, Ty Herndon, Riders in the Sky (band), Riders in the Sky, Kenny Rogers, Walter Hyatt, and others. Ty Herndon
Boyd Tyrone Herndon (born May 2, 1962), known professionally as Ty Herndon, is an American country music singer and songwriter. His music career began in the 1980s as a member of the Tennessee River Boys, a predecessor to the country band Diamond Rio. Herndon quit the band early on and gained his first national exposure as a competitor on ''Star Search''. He then played at various honky-tonks in Texas. After signing to Epic Records in 1993, Herndon made his debut in 1995 with his number one single, "What Mattered Most (song), What Mattered Most". This was followed that same year by the release of his first album, also titled ''What Mattered Most''. Ed Bruce
William Edwin Bruce Jr. (December 29, 1939 – January 8, 2021) was an American country music songwriter, singer, and actor. He was known for writing the 1975 song "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" and recording the 1982 country number one hit " You're the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had". He also co-starred in the television series ''Bret Maverick'' with James Garner during the 1981–1982 season. Tim Malchak
Tim Malchak (born June 25, 1957, in Binghamton, New York) is an American country music singer-songwriter. Malchak partnered with Dwight Rucker in 1982 to form the country music duo Malchak & Rucker. Together, they became the first black/white duo in country music history with a charting single when "Just Like That" debuted on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1984. Sugar Hill Records
Sugar Hill Records is an American bluegrass and Americana record label. It was founded in Durham, North Carolina in 1978 by Barry Poss and David Freeman, the owner of County Records and Rebel Records. Poss acquired full control of Sugar Hill in 1980 and owned the label until 1998, when he sold it to the Welk Music Group, owner of Vanguard Records. Poss stayed on as president, and in 2002 was promoted to chairman. Sugar Hill remained in Durham until 2007, when Poss moved the label to Nashville, Tennessee. Among the many notable artists who have released albums on the label are Nickel Creek, Doc Watson, Townes Van Zandt, Ricky Skaggs, Guy Clark, Robert Earl Keen, Sam Bush and Dolly Parton. David Grier
David Grier is an American acoustic guitarist. He is considered to be one of the premier flatpicking guitarists in the world. His crosspicking, unique phrasing, and his ability to create multiple variations on a theme are hallmarks of his playing style. Biography Early history Grier was born in Washington D.C. in 1961. His family moved to Nashville when he was 3, and began playing guitar at age 6. Grier's father Lamar was a banjo player in Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe's band for a number of years.
