Jonathan Lasker
Jonathan Lasker (born 1948) is an American abstract painter whose work has played an integral role in the development of Postmodern Painting. He currently lives and works in New York City. Lasker has been awarded National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Grants in 1987 and again in 1989. In 1989 he was also awarded the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship Grant. His work has been covered in ''Artforum'', ''Artscribe'', ''Arts Magazine'', ''Flash Art'', New Art Examiner, ''New York Magazine'', ''The New York Times'', ''Tema Celeste'', ''Village Voice'', ''Bomb Magazine'', and ''The Washington Post'' among others. He was the subject of the 2005 book ''Jonathan Lasker: Expressions Become Things'' by Richard Milazzo which documented his process of developing abstract compositions from sketches to paintings. Ross Bleckner
Ross Bleckner (born May 12, 1949) is an American artist. He currently lives and works in New York City. His artistic focus is on painting, and he held his first solo exhibition in 1975. Some of his art work reflected on the AIDS epidemic. Early life and education Bleckner was born on May 12, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York and he grew up Jewish. In an interview, Bleckner commented that he was fortunate to have supportive parents. In 1961, Bleckner and his family moved to a more affluent town in Hewlett, New York, where he attended George W. Hewlett High School. In 1965, Bleckner saw his first art exhibition, '' The Responsive Eye'', at the Museum of Modern Art, which went on to have a huge impact on his artwork. Robert Carleton Hobbs is an art historian and curator specializing in twentieth-century art. Since 1991 he has held the Rhoda Thalhimer Endowed Chair of American Art in the School of Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University, a highly ranked art department. Susan Rothenberg
Susan Charna Rothenberg (January 20, 1945 – May 18, 2020) was an American Contemporary art, contemporary painter, printmaker, sculptor, and draughtswoman. She became known as an artist through her iconic images of the horse, which synthesized the opposing forces of abstraction and representation. Early life and education Rothenberg was born in Buffalo, New York, on January 20, 1945, the daughter of Adele (Cohen), a president of the Buffalo Red Cross, and Leonard Rothenberg, who owned a supermarket chain. Robert Rauschenberg
Milton Ernest "Robert" Rauschenberg (October 22, 1925 – May 12, 2008) was an American painter and graphic artist whose early works anticipated the Pop art movement. Rauschenberg is well known for his Combines (1954–1964), a group of artworks which incorporated everyday objects as art materials and which blurred the distinctions between painting and sculpture. Rauschenberg was both a painter and a sculptor, but he also worked with photography, printmaking, papermaking and performance. Rauschenberg received numerous awards during his nearly 60-year artistic career. Among the most prominent were the International Grand Prize in Painting at the 32nd Venice Biennale in 1964 and the National Medal of Arts in 1993.
