Jonathan Davies (rugby, Born 1962)
Jonathan Davies, OBE (born 24 October 1962) is a Welsh former rugby footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s, and who represented Wales in both rugby union and rugby league. A goal-kicking backline player, he played his club rugby in Wales, England and Australia. Davies has since become a television commentator for both codes and media personality, in both the Welsh and English languages. Biography Jonathan Davies was born in Trimsaran, Carmarthenshire on 24 October 1962, the son of Diana and Len Davies, who worked in Trostre, Llanelli. Davies started school at Trimsaran Primary School, where he was part of the Welsh medium class. His teacher Meirion Davies introduced him to rugby, and he started playing Sevens. Jonathan Davies (born 5 April 1988) is a Welsh professional rugby union player who plays at centre for the Scarlets and the Wales national team. He is commonly known as "Fox", differentiating him from the Jonathan Davies who played both rugby union and rugby league during the 1980s and 1990s. His brother is James Davies, who also played professional rugby for Wales as a flanker. Davies made his debut for Lincolnshire in the 2000 MCCA Knockout Trophy against the Derbyshire Cricket Board. Davies played Minor counties cricket for Lincolnshire from 2000 to 2005, which included 17 Minor Counties Championship matches and 10 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. An operational meteorologist, Davies is a weather forecaster and is known for his mesoscale meteorology research related to tornadoes and convective storms. He is a major discoverer of the minisupercell thunderstorm now often referred to as a low-topped supercell, pioneered significant research on tornado environments including on cold-core situations and the importance of low-level buoyancy in some deceptively low-CAPE tornado situations, and produced important case studies. Jonathan Stuart Davies (born 28 October 1994) is an English middle- and long-distance runner. He represented Great Britain at the 2018 World Indoor Championships without advancing from the first round. In addition, he won two medals at the 2017 Summer Universiade.
