Jonas Junland
Jonas Anders Vilhelm Junland (born November 15, 1987) is a Sweden, Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for Linköping HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career Junland was drafted 64th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Junland played junior with Linköpings HC before making his professional debut in the Swedish Hockey League, Elitserien in the 2005–06 season. On June 1, 2007, Junland signed a three-year entry level contract with the Blues. In his first North American season in 2008-09 NHL season, 2008–09 he was assigned to the Blues American Hockey League, AHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen (AHL), Peoria Rivermen and was named to the Planet USA All-Star Team at the AHL All-Star Game. He made his NHL debut on December 18, 2008 against the Washington Capitals in a 4-2 defeat. In the 2009-10 NHL season, 2009–10 season, Junland was again named an AHL All-Star with the Rivermen. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three Forward (ice hockey), forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Exceptions include Overtime (ice hockey), overtime during the regular season and when a team is Short-handed, shorthanded (i.e. has been assessed a penalty), in which two defencemen are typically joined by only two forwards and a goaltender.
