Jon Kabir
Kazi Jahangir Kabir (born 10 July 1979), known mononymously as Jon Kabir, is a Bangladeshi singer, composer, actor, and model. Currently he is the lead vocalist of the rock band Indalo. He is the founder and former frontman of the grunge and alternative rock band Black. Life and career Black (1997 - 2011) In the late 1990s, Jon and two of his friends Mushfeque Jahan and Tony Vincent who attended Willes Little Flower School and St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, started to jam at each other's houses. They would listen to music through cassettes of bands like Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden who were later influences in their music. In 1997 Jon co-founded Black with Jahan on guitars, Tony on drums and Jon himself on vocals. Later on countless other members joined like Asif Haque and Tahsan Khan. Willes Little Flower School
Willes Little Flower School and College is one of the three first English medium school in Dhaka, Bangladesh and was established in 1956 by philanthropist Josephine Willes. The school follows the English version under Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. The school also provides classes under Pearson Edexcel for students who will sit for A-levels. The school also has a Bangla medium sections. History On 16 January 2016 parents of the students demonstrated against the school raising tuitions. In 2017 Bangladesh Chhatra League opened a unit at the school amid criticism of the move. On 20 January 2019, Anti-Corruption Commission led drives against school tutors providing private coaching against school regulations. ''Black'' is the fourth studio album by Bangladeshi rock band Black. In 2009 Black announced on their official Facebook page that they had started to work on their fourth studio album and it would be a self-titled album. Work on the album properly started after Rafiqul Ahsan Titu (ex-Aashor) joined the band as the permanent bass player after Shahriar Shagor left the band. Black stated, they had plans to release the album on the Eid-ul-Azha of 2010, but due to other commitments of the band members and tight scheduling they were unable to succeed. After a few more changes of speculated release dates the band finally announced the official release date, August 21, 2011. According to the band, the album contains the heaviest possible music they have yet made. The first single off the album was "Aajo...", its music video premiered at YouTube in September 2011. ''আবার (Again)'' is the third studio album by Bangladeshi rock band Black, released on July 10, 2008. After a full five-year hiatus the band released the album under the sponsorship of Warid Telecom. A gala was held for the album's release at Dhaka's Bashundhara City shopping mall, with the band performing various songs from the album with collaborations from other notable artists. The album was said to have sold 5,000 copies three hours after launch and is considered to be Black's most critically acclaimed album and a landmark record for the rock music scene of Bangladesh. Humayun Faridi
Humayun Kamrul Islam (known as Humayun Faridi; 29 May 1952 – 13 February 2012) was a Bangladeshi actor and drama organiser. He worked in television dramas, movies and theatre plays. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his lead role in the film ''Matritto'' (2004). He was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life Faridi was born in Narinda, Dhaka on 29 May 1952 to ATM Nurul Islam and Begum Farida Islam. He was the second among five siblings. Pinu was one of his sisters. In 1968, he passed the SSC exam from Islamia Government High School and in 1970 he passed the HSC from Chandpur Government College. In the same year, he entered the University of Dhaka to study organic chemistry. However, due to the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, it became impossible to continue his studies and he subsequently took part as a freedom fighter in the war.
