Jon Guridi
Jon Guridi Aldalur (born 28 February 1995) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for La Liga club Alavés. Often deployed as a midfielder, he can also play as a right-back or right wing-back. Career Real Sociedad Born in Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Guridi was a Real Sociedad youth graduate. On 11 July 2014 he was promoted to the reserve team in Segunda División B, and made his senior debut on 13 September by starting in a 3–2 away loss against Sestao River. Guridi scored his first professional goal on 10 October 2015, netting a last-minute equalizer in a 1–1 home draw against the same opponent. The following 10 February, he renewed his contract until 2018. Guridi made his first team – and La Liga – debut on 18 March 2017, starting in a 1–0 away loss against local rivals Deportivo Alavés. Real Sociedad de Fútbol, S.A.D., more commonly referred to as Real Sociedad (; ''Royal Society''), La Real in Spanish, Erreala in Basque, is a Spanish professional sports club in the city of San Sebastián, Basque Country, founded on 7 September 1909. The term Basque derbies refers to the various local derbies between the football teams based in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Spain. This can also include the province of Navarre outside of the autonomous community. It specifically refers to individual matches between the teams, but can also be used to describe the general ongoing rivalry between the clubs and fans. Background As of the 2021–22 season, there are three clubs in La Liga that play in the Basque Country area. The major rivalry is between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, representing their home provinces of Biscay and Gipuzkoa, known as 'the' Basque derby, which has been played over 140 times in the league alone. The 2021–22 La Liga is the 91st season of La Liga, Spain's premier football competition. It began on 13 August 2021 and will conclude on 22 May 2022. The fixtures were announced on 30 June 2021. On 24 June 2021, the Spanish Council of Ministers resolved that spectators could return to stadiums at full capacity by means of a modification of the royal decree regulating the 'new normality', in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Atlético Madrid are the defending champions, having won their eleventh title in the previous season. 2019–20 Segunda División
The 2019–20 Segunda División season, also known as LaLiga SmartBank for sponsorship reasons, was the 89th since its establishment. On 12 March 2020 after most of teams had played 31 games, the league was suspended for at least two weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. The league was suspended indefinitely on 23 March. The season recommenced on 10 June and was initially planned to be completed on 20 July. On 20 July 2020, the final day of the regular season, Deportivo La Coruña's match against Fuenlabrada was suspended indefinitely due to several Fuenlabrada players testing positive for COVID-19, therefore, delaying the official end of the season. The match was finally played on 7 August, resulting in a 2–1 win for Deportivo.
