''Newsroom South East'' was the BBC's regional news programme aired on BBC One in the South East. It was launched on Tuesday 28 March 1989 as the successor to ''London Plus'', the South East's previous news programme. In 1992, ''South Today'' replaced Newsroom South East in the Heathfield coverage area (which subsequently switched to ''South East Today'' in 2001). In October 2000, the Oxford coverage area also broke away from Newsroom South East, in favour of joining ''South Today'' with opt-out privileges. The Crystal Palace transmitting station, officially known as Arqiva Crystal Palace, is a broadcasting and telecommunications site in the Crystal Palace area of the London Borough of Bromley, England (). It is located on the site of the former television station and transmitter operated by John Logie Baird from 1933. The station is the eighth-tallest structure in London, and is best known as the main television transmitter for the London area.
