Life Breistein was born in Åsane in the city of Bergen in Hordaland county, Norway. He was a farmer's son and learned to play fiddle in his youth, playing for dances at weddings in Western Norway. Later in life, in addition to directing films, he also performed on the Hardanger fiddle. When the Norwegian Theater opened in 1913, he started acting at the theater. He became engaged with the new medium of film after seeing Peter Lykke-Seest's productions, and he decided to produce films in a completely different way. Botten Soot (born Ingeborg Bergit Soot; 22 March 1895 – 21 May 1958) was a Norwegian actress, singer, and dancer. Her primary venue was the cabaret and revue theatre Chat Noir, where she performed for most of her career. Southern Norway
Southern Norway ( no, Sørlandet; lit. "The Southland") is the geographical region (''landsdel'') along the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. The region is an informal description since it does not have any governmental function. It roughly corresponds to the old petty kingdom of Agder as well as the two former counties of Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder. From New Year 2020, the two counties have been merged into one county, Agder. Vilhelm Krag
Vilhelm Krag (24 December 1871 – 10 July 1933) was a Norwegian poet, author, journalist and cultural personality. Known for coining the term Sørlandet to describe a region of Norway, he was the son of Peter Rasmus Krag and younger brother of the novelist Thomas Krag. His first volume of poetry, which came out in 1891, included many of his best-known poems: "Fandango", "Der skreg en fugl" (A bird cried), "Liden Kirsten" (Little Kirsten), "Majnat" (May night), "Mens jeg venter" (While I'm waiting), "Moderen synger" (The mother sings) and "Og jeg vil ha mig en hjertenskjær" (And I will have me a sweetheart). Gunnar Nilsen-Vig (September 20, 1886 – July 8, 1959) was a Norwegian cinematographer, scriptwriter, and film director. Nilsen-Vig came into contact with the director Rasmus Breistein via the company Kommunenes Filmcentral. He became Breistein's permanent cinematographer and was involved in most of Breistein's films, from '' Fante-Anne'' (1920) to ''Trysil-Knut'' (1942). He also worked as a cinematographer for other directors, including for the Norwegian–German film ''The Woman in the Advocate's Gown'' (1929, directed by Adolf Trotz). In 1923, Nilsen-Vig directed his only film, '' Strandhugg paa Kavringen'' (now considered lost), together with Trygve Dalseg.
