Jolan Gidney-Craigen (born 12 November 1993), mononymously known as Jolan, is an English singer. He is best known for placing second in the fifth series of ''The Voice UK''. Early life Jolan Gidney-Craigen was born on 12 November 1993 in Bolton, England. His mother died in 2014, which convinced him to re-audition for ''The Voice UK'' in 2016. Career 2014–16: ''The Voice UK'' Jolan had previously performed a blind audition in the third series of The Voice UK, singing Labrinth and Emeli Sandé's "Beneath Your Beautiful", but failed to make any of the coaches turn for him and he was therefore eliminated straight away. In 2016, he auditioned again, performing Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well". Three out of the four coaches – Boy George, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson – turned for him and he elected to join Team Ricky. Jolan Chang (9 December 1917 – 25 April 2002) was a Canadian sexologist and Taoist philosopher who wrote the luminary classics on Eastern Sexuality ''The Tao of Love and Sex'' and ''The Tao of the Loving Couple''. He was born in Hangzhou as the son of an army general. After the revolution he lived for a number of years in Canada, but later he moved to Sweden. He died in Stockholm. British author Lawrence Durrell wrote about Chang in his 1980 book ''A smile in the Mind's Eye.'' ''The Tao of Love and Sex'' (with foreword and postscript by Joseph Needham) interprets ancient Taoist sexual teachings into a modern model of sexuality. Jolán Földes (Yolanda Foldes or Yolanda Clarent) (20 December 1902, Kenderes – October 1963, London) was a Hungarian author. Her most famous novel is the ''Street of the Fishing Cat''. Biography Jolán Földes graduated in Budapest (1921) and went to Paris, where she worked as a workerwoman and clerk. Her first novel, ''Mária jól érett'' (1932), was a literary success in Hungary and awarded with Mikszáth Prize. Her comedy ''Majd a Vica'' (1935), written together with Pál Vajda, was presented by the prestigious New Theater. Her novel ''A halászó macska utcája'' tells the difficult life of a family of working class Hungarian emigrants in Paris after World War I. It won the 1936 All-nations Prize Novel Competition of the Pinter Publishing Ltd (London). The title refers to the name of the narrowest street in Paris, Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche (Street of the Fishing Cat). The novel was translated to 12 European languages. Jolán Kleiber-Kontsek (; 29 August 1939 – 20 July 2022) was a Hungarian athlete who mainly competed in the discus throw event during her career. In 1964, she finished sixth in the discus competition at the Olympics. She competed for Hungary in the 1968 Summer Olympics held in Mexico City, Mexico where she won a bronze medal in the discus throw competition.
