Lewis Jolley
Lewis Elman Jolley (born November 15, 1949) is an American former professional football player who was a running back for the Houston Oilers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Jolley began his college career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a wingback after not playing football his senior year in high school due to an injury. He was converted to a running back in 1971, his senior year in college. He capped his college career playing in the December 1971 Gator Bowl, which North Carolina lost to the Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 7-3. Jolley was selected by the Oilers in the third round of the 1972 NFL draft with the 56th overall pick. He was cut before the 1972 regular season began, but then joined the Oilers' taxi squad before being activated as a special teams player. Alexander Jolly
Alexander Jolly (3 April 1756 – 29 June 1838) was bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness in the Scottish Episcopal Church. Life He was born on 3 April 1756, at Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, he was educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, was ordained deacon in the Scottish episcopal church on 1 July 1776, and admitted priest on 19 March 1777. He was appointed to the congregation at Turriff, Aberdeenshire, taking at the same time occasional duty at Parkdargue (Forgue), and then at Banff and Portsoy. At the desire of Robert Kilgour, Bishop of Aberdeen, Jolly in April 1788 left Turriff for Fraserburgh. 24 June 1796 he was chosen coadjutor to Andrew MacFarlane, bishop of Moray and Ross. William Jolley (1836 - 13 February 1919) was an English architect based in Nottingham. History He was born in 1836, the son of William Jolley (1801-1886) and Elizabeth Moore (1800-1857) and baptised on 9 August 1836 in St Alkmund's Church, Derby. He trained as an architect as a pupil by Thomas Chambers Hine and then went to work for 13 years in the office of George Gilbert Scott, Sir George Gilbert Scott in London. He then moved to be an assistant with Robert Evans JP in Eldon Chambers. The partnership of Evans and Jolley was established in 1871 and lasted until 1894. William Jolley
William Turner Jolley (3 August 1923 – 28 April 1995) was an English cricketer. Jolley was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast. He was born at Smallthorne, Staffordshire. Jolley made his first-class debut for Lancashire against Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford in the 1947 County Championship, with him playing one further first-class match in that same season against Hampshire. He took 5 wickets in his two matches, with best figures of 4/31, while with the bat he scored 21 runs with a high score of 13. After leaving Lancashire, Jolley debuted in minor counties cricket for Staffordshire against Durham in the 1949 Minor Counties Championship. He played minor counties cricket for Staffordshire until 1956, making a total of 25 appearances. Steven Nicholas Jolley (born April 1950) and Tony Swain (born 20 January 1952, London, England) were a successful songwriting and record production duo in the United Kingdom in the early to mid-1980s, producing some of the top artists and songs of the era. Career The pair met in 1975 when Swain was working as a television cameraman on ''The Muppet Show'', where Jolley was sound technician and sometimes boom operator. They formed the band Chaser in 1975 with Richard Palmer (rhythm guitar and percussion), Nick Adams (lead guitar), Ray Bailey (bass) and Brian Grant (drums). Chaser released the single "Red Rum" (1975), written by Jolley, Palmer and Swain, on Polydor as a tribute to the famous racehorse. Steve Jolley (born October 15, 1975) is a retired American soccer defender, who spent ten seasons in Major League Soccer and one in the Premier Development League. Today, Jolley provides color commentary for the New York Red Bull’s games on Red Bulls Radio. Additionally, he works for a very successful wealth management firm, Walsh & Nicholson Financial Group. Stanford Jolley, Jr. (May 17, 1926 – June 4, 2012), known as Stan Jolley, was an American art director and production designer, originally employed by Walt Disney Studios before he struck out on his own. Smead Powell Jolley (January 14, 1902 – November 17, 1991) was an American outfielder in professional baseball. He played from 1922 to 1941, including four seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1930 to 1933. Jolley was considered a good hitter. His poor fielding kept him from having a longer major league career, but he spent eight seasons in the Pacific Coast League (PCL), the top minor league of that era.
