Joliet Union Station
Joliet Union Station was a train station in Joliet, Illinois that served Amtrak long-distance and Metra commuter trains. It was replaced by the new Joliet Transportation Center in 2018, a train station that was constructed adjacent to the Union Station's location. Train service to Joliet Union Station permanently ceased in September 2014. The station is from Chicago Union Station on the Heritage Corridor, and from Chicago LaSalle St. Station on the Rock Island District. Service When it was in active service, Joliet Union Station was at the junction of the former Rock Island Line, Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe, and Alton Railroad main lines. Therefore, it has two different milepost numbers depending on how far each route is to Chicago. Joliet ( ) is a city in Will and Kendall counties in the U.S. state of Illinois, southwest of Chicago. It is the county seat of Will County. At the 2020 census, the city was the third-largest in Illinois, with a population of 150,362. Galesburg (Amtrak Station)
Galesburg is an Amtrak intercity train station in Galesburg, Illinois, United States. The station was originally built in 1984, after the razing of the large depot just south of the current site. It is located north of the large BNSF Classification yard. Just south the ''Illinois Zephyr'' and ''Carl Sandburg'' diverge via the Quincy main line which bypasses the yard on the east side. The ''California Zephyr'' and the ''Southwest Chief'' continue to the southwest side of Galesburg near Knox College. There are three tracks with one island platform and one side platform. Trains to California normally arrive on the track closest to the depot, known as track one. Classical architecture usually denotes architecture which is more or less consciously derived from the principles of Greek and Roman architecture of classical antiquity, or sometimes even more specifically, from the works of the Roman architect Vitruvius. Jarvis Hunt
Jarvis Hunt (August 6, 1863 - June 15, 1941) was a Chicago architect who designed a wide array of buildings, including railroad stations, suburban estates, industrial buildings, clubhouses and other structures. Biography Hunt was born in Weathersfield, Vermont, and attended Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had a passion for golf and qualified for the 1904 Olympics Golf Team, but failed to make the cut. Hunt later designed the clubhouses of several clubs including the National Golf Links of America Golf Course, of which he was a founding member, and the Chicago Golf Club. Most of his projects are associated with the United States Midwest, including the Kansas City Union Station and the Joliet Union Station. Hunt based his architectural firm in Chicago's Monadnock Building. Hunt retired to his home in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1927. He died on June 15, 1941, in St. Petersburg. The ''Texas Eagle'' is a daily passenger train route operated by Amtrak between Chicago and San Antonio in the central and western United States. Prior to 1988, the train was known as the ''Eagle''.
